When the diesel scandal involving Volkswagen hit the air ways people probably thought they would never see the day where the problem would be resolved. VW is near a settlement that may pay out huge for diesel VW owners.
There have been reports of diesel car owners receiving as much as $5,000 for being sold a scandaled vehicle. We have also seen reports as low as $1,700 for older vehicles that require more work, while vehicles that just need a simple software update would receive less.
Regardless of what the outcome is, at least there is one. VW has reached the judges deadline and is cooperating with the process. A federal judge said today that VW has reached a settlement in principle with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, California regulators, California attorney general’s office and consumers over nearly half a million vehicles that violated emissions standards.
With confirmation from the federal judge, it gives more credibility to the plan and the deal that may be coming. This is not just another smoke and mirror trick they are trying to pull. The final numbers may not be released yet, but this should give VW diesel owners hope that something will be happening soon.
One thing VW vehicle owners can take away form this is that there will be substainal compensation. Is this the news the VW owners have been waiting for? Do they deserve more? Tell us in the comments below!
