Ramping up a diesel truck’s performance potential is something just about every diesel owner has an interest in. Whether it’s through a tuner or getting around emissions systems and components, there’s more than one way to skin a cat when you want to make your truck perform better. Pusher Intakes takes on that mantra very seriously. The company constantly seeks out new ways to provide customers with the ability to get some more oomph out of their trucks, and for GM owners, one of the latest releases has been the Supermax Y-bridge Duramax intake for the 2004.5-10 LLY, LBZ, and LMM.
The Y-bridge Duramax intake is a two-piece component of the Duramax’s intake, and is directly connected to the heads on either side, hence the “Y.” However, from the factory, the y-bridge is not conducive to easy flow paths for incoming air. Rather, it makes it harder for air to travel where it ought to go.
Pusher’s replacement is a much more free-flowing tube, and offers a massive increase in airflow volume. It does this by having a three-inch diameter (significantly more than factory), mandrel bending, and CNC-machined flanges that match perfectly with the heads.
“Better airflow means a lot to turbodiesel trucks,” said Pusher’s Elizabeth Allenbaugh. “Lowered EGTs, faster spooling for the turbocharger, and increased towing capability and fuel efficiency are all benefits of using our Y-bridge.”
When used with Pusher’s HD Charge Tube, the Y-bridge can make up to 202 percent more flow on LLY motors, and 93 percent more flow on LBZ and LMM motors. The Y-bridge Duramax intake also works excellently with Pusher’s Max Compound Turbo System for those looking to make the jump to compound turbochargers.
The Y-bridge doesn’t stop there, however. Customers can also customize the product in a number of ways, as Allenbaugh explained: “We offer nine power coat color options, and can accommodate additional ports on the combined kit.”
All of this makes for a great piece to add to your Duramax V8. Find out more by visiting the Pusher Intakes website, and don’t forget to follow the company on its Facebook page, too.
