SEMA 2014: Paying It Forward Is A Way Of Life For Kelly Fromm

IMG_2572

We come across a lot of people with some really great stories. We, also, come across those guys that are trying to jump on the band wagon at the last minute because they think it will help them out. It was obvious after about 30 seconds that Kelly Fromm is 100 percent legit.

IMG_2590His love and dedication to this country and our soldiers is without waver. Fromm served in the 82 Airborne Division of the United States Army. In 2001, he medically retired from the Army, but only on paper. He has devoted much of his life to helping soldiers and bringing attention to our armed services. According to Fromm, he started a company called Rev-It-Up for Wounded Warriors before the Wounded Warriors Project even started. They work with the ADASDF (Active Dog Academy Service Dog Foundation) to provide service dogs to service men and women who needed them.

Fromm has his hand in quite a number of charities and organizations trying to help others, so many so that we could probably write a book. He is quite a unique individual and completely genuine. This is his forth tribute truck and he has no plan on stopping anytime soon.

IMG_2586The truck itself started out as a 2015 GMC Denali 3500HD dually. While Fromm is a dually type of guy, this is a truck all about work. He regularly hauls around his trailers with the other show vehicles in them. According to Fromm, the truck will regularly be hooked to 20,000-plus pounds. With the exception of the Gatlin gun in the rear of the bed, everything in this truck is functional and is/will be used on a regular basis. Since acquiring the truck a few months ago, he has already put 6,000 miles on the it.

The truck is standing tall thanks to a 6.5 inch high clearance lift kit from BDS Suspensions. To soften the ride on the long hauls, Fromm opted for a set of Fox Racing 2.0 shocks. The truck is rolling on a set of Toyo Tires M/T Open Country 35×12.5R22’s mounted on a set of Fuel Off-Road Full Blown Wheels. Holding the wheels on, are a set of V&V Concept 50 caliber bullet lug nuts.

The truck has a stunning front end thanks largely to the Royalty Core RX-3 Grille with LED light bars mounted in it. The front (as well as the back) bumper is an Iron Cross Automotive bumper with four LED light bars. The fenders are widened thanks to Bushwacker’s Pocket flares.

The camo wrap is a pretty cool deal. Fromm usually has custom airbrushing done to the tribute trucks, but took a vote on one of his numerous Facebook pages. Doing a camo wrap won and the design is basically what you see here. One of the really neat things Fromm did, is to have inspirational words stenciled on the truck before the wrap was laided down. Then as Firefly Graphics laid down the 3M 1080 Digital Camo Wrap, the stencils protruded out. The words are faint to see but it is the emotional connection they have that is empowering. Fromm says that people will walk up to the truck and just run their hands over the letters. Almost bonding with the truck through something greater than us.

This photo was taken with the flash. See how the words Army, Loyalty, Support Our Troops, Valor, Respect, Never Forget are clear as day. They reflect with light.

In addition to the embossed words, Fromm, also had additional words added to the exterior that are reflective. As he drives somewhere at night or when light hits the truck, inspirational words reflect back. It is a very cool way to connect with people and shows that Fromm has been doing this for quite some time.

When Fromm is attending shows, he likes to put out lots of flyers and information for people. So, he installed a Bedslide 1500CG storage rack in the bed. This gives him easy access to the entire length of the bed. To keep things safe when he isn’t around the truck, a Truck Covers USA roll up tonneau cover was installed. For additional storage, the truck, also, has a RackWorks roof rack with quite a few Offroad LED Bars. The last touch to the back of the truck is a pair of Diamond Eye Performance Exhaust Diamond Stacks. Check out how clean they are.

IMG_2584For performance, Fromm turned to the guys at Banks Power. He installed a Banks Power IQ 2.0 as well as a water methanol injection kit. For improved air flow, an aFe Power cold air intake was installed. To keep an eye on a few more things under the hood while he is driving, Fromm, also installed an Edge CTS Evolution tuner.

The truck still has a stock transmission as well as all of the factory emissions equipment. Yes the stack is clean and yes, he has 6,000 miles on the truck (obviously not all with the stack). We even got under the truck to take a photo of the DPF. While we were down there, we did, also, see that Fromm is running a Transfer flow replacement fuel tank as well as Kleinn train horns.

In the interior, the center console was removed and a police console was installed, complete with scanner and monitor. The switches mounted to the console control the lights, cameras and other accessories that are on the truck. Yep, we said cameras. The truck has camera mounted in the front, rear, sides, basically all around to ensure that if anything happens, Fromm recorded it.

IMG_2585

The interior has been upgraded as well. The seats have been recovered with Roadwire custom leather seats with the High Honor (the name of the truck) logo stitched into the seat. The headliner is leather as well. To entertain the rear passengers, a drop down monitor was installed. They can either watch movies or the camera feed live.

Pretty much anywhere you look on this truck, you will see that it fit with the theme, High Honor. Fromm conceived this great truck and the guys at Total Auto Pros put it together. Keep an eye out for this truck and Fromm’s other tribute vehicles at shows all around the country. He does as much as he can to bring attention to the causes he represents.
