A.R.E. has taken the way people view and use a truck cap to new levels at this year’s SEMA Show by reinventing a conventional truck cap and changing the way people use them.
We spoke with Andy Clutter about A.R.E.’s new products. “The newest model truck cap we have available is our HD Series. It has an interior skeleton that routes all the way from the roof to the side of the bed rails. Having the internal structure allows the cap to hold 550 pounds. It has more of a commercial style look to it, but will work great for the overland market,” Clutter explained.
“The side tool boxes are tied to the structure as well which allow addition weight support, as they can hold 200 pounds. The roof rack also bolts through the roof to the internal structure for addition support,” Clutter continued.
Having the truck cap with the internal skeleton allows for more options above the cap. The way A.R.E. had the truck set up in its display booth allowed for a tent to be placed on top for those who prefer off-the-grid explorations.
More and more companies are looking at designing products for the off-road market and the way A.R.E. has taken the design of its truck cap to accommodate the market is great. What truck would you put this cap on? Tell us in the comments below!
